Noncitizen

Noncitizen is a nomadic film and cultural project. The aim is to highlight the issues of oppression in our time, the right to have rights, borders and freedom of movement. Noncitizen started in early 2015 by a network of filmmakers and film workers, from RåFILM among others.

Noncitizen  organize film screenings, seminars, meetings and discussions. A basic thought is that films documentary filmmakers do can be the starting point for dialogues about issues that are bigger than individual stories of the films.

Noncitizen opposes all sorts of repressive or restraining boundaries - between citizens and non-citizens, rights holders and rights deprived, between nations, cultures, religions, gender identities and sexualities. We do this by actively working to create forums for encounters and discussions and for films, images and texts.

Noncitizen consists of the following documentary filmmakers and film workers: Ahmed Abdullahi, David Aronowitsch, Elisabeth Cronvall Marjanovic, Marta Dauliute, Elin Eriksson, Hanna Heilborn, Anna Persson, Christian Rossipal, Sharmarke Binyusuf, Anna Weitz and others.

The projects we have made so far are done in collaboration with Story AB, Råfilm, MDEMC, Kulturhuset/Stadsteatern, UR, Tempo Documentary Festival, ABF, Cyklopenand others. And with the support by the Swedish Film Institute, Stockholms Läns Landsting (The County Council of Stockholm), Postkodstiftelsen, Kulturbrygggan and Stockholms Stad (The City of Stockholm)and others.
